A game night, in order
The host runs the board from one screen. Everyone else needs only a phone.
- $200
Write the board
Name your categories, fill in clues and answers, set the values. Add a picture, a sound clip, a video, or a trimmed YouTube clip to any clue. Mark a Daily Double or two.
- $400
Put it on the big screen
Open the host view on a laptop plugged into the TV or projector - or share your screen on a video call. Pick one of 14 themes, from Studio Classic to Pub Quiz.
- $600
Everyone joins with a code
Players open the site on their phone, type the five-letter code from the screen and pick a team. No app to install, no accounts.
- $800
First buzz wins
When you open a clue the phones light up. The server decides who was first, the board shows the buzz order, and you award or deduct points with one click.
Name the band from the first four seconds of this song
Clues can be more than text
- Your own files. Photos, sound clips and video play on the host screen. They stay on your computer - nothing is uploaded.
- YouTube clips. Paste a link, set where it starts and stops, and choose whether it plays muted.
- Timers and Daily Doubles. Give a clue 15 seconds on the clock, or hide a Daily Double behind any tile.
- Sound and spectacle. 14 themes, each with its own colours, sound effects and confetti.
Where people play it
- Classroom review
- Turn the week's material into a board and let the class buzz in by table.
- Office quiz
- Friday team-building in the meeting room, or across three offices on a video call.
- Birthdays and family nights
- Categories about the guest of honour, with photos only the family will recognise.
- Pub and club quizzes
- One screen on the wall, a code on the board, every team on their own phone.
Questions
Do players need to download an app?
No. Players use the browser on their phone. They type the join code shown on the host's screen and pick a team.
Can we play remotely, over Zoom or Teams?
Yes. Share your screen with the board on it, and players buzz in from their own phones wherever they are. Turn on meeting mode and each clue also appears on every phone the moment it opens, so remote players aren't held back by screen-share lag.
Can I use my own pictures, music and video?
Yes. Image, audio and video files stay on the computer you host from - they are never uploaded, so there is no size limit. YouTube clips work from any device, with a start and end time you choose.
Is it free?
Yes. You can build boards and host games without signing up.
Can I share a board with someone else?
Every board has a share link. Anyone who opens it can save their own copy and host it. You can also export a board as a file and import it later.
Is Buzzboard the official Jeopardy! game?
No. Buzzboard is an independent quiz tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Jeopardy Productions or Sony Pictures Television.
