Buzzboard is made by Wireframe Studios (CVR 45758249, Odense, Denmark), which is the data controller for the information described here. Questions or requests go to contact@wireframestudios.dk.
The short version: no advertising and no tracking. Playing and hosting need no account. We store the boards you make and, for a limited time, the names players type in when they join a game. If you buy Pro, we also keep your email address and a record of the purchase.
What we store
- Boards you create
- The title, categories, clues, answers and theme of each board. Anyone with a board's link can open it, so don't put anything private in one. Boards are kept until you delete them.
- Games you host or join
- The join code, team names and scores, each player's chosen nickname and team, and the time of each buzz. This is deleted automatically 30 days after the game was started.
- Your own pictures, audio and video
- Files you add to a clue are saved in your browser's storage on your own device. They are never uploaded to us.
- Identifiers in your browser
- Your browser keeps random identifiers in local storage that prove a board or a game is yours, along with your nickname and sound and motion settings, and your sign-in session if you have an account. They never leave your device except as proof of ownership when you save or play, and we store only a one-way hash of them. These are strictly necessary for the service to work, so no consent banner is needed. We set no cookies.
- Your account (only if you sign in)
- Your email address and when you signed in. An account is only needed to buy Pro. It is kept until you ask us to delete it.
- Purchases
- Which plan you bought, the amount, the date and Stripe's reference for the payment. We never see or store your card details - payment happens on Stripe's checkout page. Purchase records are kept for five years, as Danish bookkeeping law requires.
- Server logs
- Like any website, our hosting provider records technical request data such as IP address, browser type and time of request, to operate and secure the service.
Why we process it
To provide the service you asked for: saving your boards, running your games and delivering Pro (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). Purchase records are kept because bookkeeping law requires it (article 6(1)(c)). Server logs are kept for security and operation, which is our legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)).
Who else handles it
- Vercel hosts the website and keeps the server logs described above.
- Supabase hosts the database that stores boards, games and accounts, in the EU, and sends sign-in emails.
- Stripe processes Pro payments. Stripe handles your card details and its own fraud checks under its own privacy policy.
- YouTube: if a board contains a YouTube clip, it plays through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube then processes data under its own privacy policy. Nothing is loaded from YouTube unless a clue uses it.
Some of these providers are US companies. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell data or share it with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, object to processing, or ask for a copy. Email contact@wireframestudios.dk. For boards and games, which aren't tied to an account, tell us the board link or the game code and nickname so we can find them. To close an account, email us from the address you signed in with. You can also delete your own boards at any time from My boards, and clear the identifiers by clearing this site's data in your browser.
If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
Children
Buzzboard is used in classrooms. Players only enter a nickname, and we recommend teachers ask pupils to use a first name or a made-up name rather than a full name.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Significant changes will be noted on the front page.
